The Slingshot is a radical design packaging the things we love about motorsports and powersports into a design that will take all the attention of any place you take it. What a Slingshot needs
When the Slingshot first released the engine bay was rigged with a GM 2.4L inline 4. A motor that we as an automotive shop are very familiar with. The reason behind it was because Polaris was about to scrap the venture, and the Slingshot team had to release something fast. In 2020 after the Slingshot became mainstream with customers of Gas 'N Glory's owner Daniel such as Shaq purchasing and promoting the brand they introduced the Prostar 2.0L (put into the Pro R RZRs later).
With all this said, what a Slingshot needs is a shop that knows them. The front half of the machine is serviced like a sports car, while the back half where the direct belt-drive connects to the rear wheel feels like servicing a Harley-Davidson but driven by a RZR clutch. There is nothing else on the road like them, and we love it.

Common Questions
Do I need a motorcyle license to drive one?
In Virginia, the Slingshot is classed as an autocycle so a regular driver's license covers it, no motorcycle endorsement required. Helmet requirements are their own subject; check current Virginia law before you ride open-air.
How often does the belt need attention?
Inspection every service, at minimum, tension and condition both. Belts live long lives when they're kept clean and correctly tensioned, and short ones when they're ignored. If you hear a new whir, chirp, or clack from the rear, come see us before it becomes a tow.
Can you handle the rear tire?
Yes. Sourcing, mounting, and balancing. Rear wear surprises most new owners; all the drive force goes through one contact patch, so plan on replacing it more often than the fronts.
