The 7-speed 722.9 automatic has a well-documented weakness in its conductor plate and valve body electronics: harsh shifts, limp mode, or a transmission that briefly forgets what gear it wants. Often the fix is the plate and fresh fluid, not a whole transmission, and knowing that difference saves owners real money.
Airmatic air suspension on S-Class, GL, and other models leaks with age and will create a noticeable change in your drive by providing you with a car sagging overnight on one corner and a compressor running long and hot. The M272 V6 (2005–2008) had a balance shaft gear that wears and throws cam correlation codes; it's a big job and worth an honest conversation about the car's value first. That kind of frank advice is standard here, along with careful diagnosis before anyone orders parts.
